„Forecasts by the IPCC and others indicate that keeping global warming below 2ºC will require increased efforts to reduce GHG emissions as well as pro-active removal of CO₂ from the atmosphere and increased CO₂ retention by natural sinks. Considering the important role the ocean already plays in moderating atmospheric CO₂, this session explores biotic, chemical, electrochemical, geochemical, physical and hybrid methods of expanding marine-based CO₂ capture, removal and/or storage as well as avoidance of CO₂ emissions.
