A scalable direct air capture process based on accelerated weathering of calcium hydroxide

by Noah McQueen, Mireille Ghoussoub, Jennifer Mills, Max Scholten (perspective article by Heirloom)

The authors provide insight into Heirloom’s DAC process that uses Earth-abundant minerals, namely calcium carbonate (CaCO 3), and renewable energy to capture carbon dioxide (CO 2) directly from air. They also discuss the need for supporting systems, such as renewable
electricity generation and geologic storage, to scale DAC.
