Session at AGU: GC039 – Exploring Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement: Theory, practice, models, and measurements at a new frontier in marine carbon dioxide removal

In this session at the 2022 American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting, the conveners invite submissions addressing potential applications of OAE at large (global) and small (local) scales, including discussions of: OAE theory or natural analogues; analyses of the efficiency, scalability, and durability of OAE; results from field-trials or large-scale tank or mesocosm experiments; possible co-benefits (such as ocean acidification mitigation) and potential risks (e.g., trace metal shock) that result from OAE approaches; co-benefits of pairing OAE with other CDR approaches; and proposed techniques for monitoring, reporting, and verifying impacts of OAE projects. Ultimately, the goal is to provide the AGU community an overview of the open questions OAE research that define the method’s promise and challenges.

The abstract submission deadline is 3 August 2022 (23:59 EDT/03:59 +1 GMT).
