The direct capture of CO₂ from ambient air (DAC) has emerged as a crucial technology for mitigating climate change and achieving carbon neutrality. In this study, cerium oxide (CeO₂) was functionalized with (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES) through silanization to enhance CO₂ adsorption. APTES-modified CeO₂ adsorbents were characterized by TGA, FTIR, XPS, and TEM, confirming successful functionalization. The modification not only introduced amine groups that directly interact with CO₂ but also created oxygen vacancies via lattice distortion and redox effects, boosting adsorption.
