Horton, Joshua B.; et al. (2015): Liability for Solar Geoengineering. Historical Precedents, Contemporary Innovations, and Governance Possibilities

Horton, Joshua B.; Parker, Andrew; Keith, David W. (2015): Liability for Solar Geoengineering. Historical Precedents, Contemporary Innovations, and Governance Possibilities. In NYU Environmental Law Journal (22), pp. 225–273.

“The absence of liability regimes is sometimes assumed to be a showstopper for solar geoengineering. We examine a set of international liability regimes mostly associated with environmental risks, and suggest that there is a broad legal and historical precedent that might serve as a basis to develop a regime for solar geoengineering.”

Cvijanovic, Ivana; et al. (2015): Impacts of ocean albedo alteration on Arctic sea ice restoration and Northern Hemisphere climate

Cvijanovic, Ivana; Caldeira, Ken; MacMartin, Douglas G. (2015): Impacts of ocean albedo alteration on Arctic sea ice restoration and Northern Hemisphere climate. In Environ. Res. Lett. 10 (4). DOI 10.1088/1748-9326/10/4/044020.

“Motivated by this, we investigate the impacts of idealized high latitude ocean albedo changes on Arctic sea ice restoration and climate. In our simulated 4xCO2 climate, imposing surface albedo alterations over the Arctic Ocean leads to partial sea ice recovery and a modest reduction in Arctic warming.”
