A novel coupling of HVAC-systems (heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems) with DAC-technology (direct air capturing technology) is proposed to separate CO2 in the exhaust air of buildings and recirculate the CO2-depleted air back into the building.

Brussels, Dec 1: The European Union plans to capture five million tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere each year by 2030 through technologies, and create an EU system to certify carbon removals.
Climate Vault, an award-winning non-profit founded at the University of Chicago, today issued an RFP (Request For Proposal) to identify, assess, and award funds to Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) technologies that are helping make net negative emissions possible. Climate Vault will award successful CDR applicants funding for an equivalent mass of carbon removed with the value of the award being based on the market price of Climate Vault’s held carbon permits.
Since November 24 , „Carbon Removal“ – a Norwegian development company, „Carbon Engineering (CE)“ – a leading provider of Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology that captures carbon dioxide (CO2) out of the atmosphere, and „Oxy Low Carbon Ventures (OLCV)“ – which is developing large-scale DACs for use in CO2 storage projects, announced they are working together to deploy commercial DAC projects in Norway.

Model-based scenarios are used to inform policymakers about emissions pathways and cost-effective carbon prices. Many of these scenarios are based on the Hotelling rule, assuming that a carbon price path increasing with the interest rate leads to a cost-effective strategy. The robustness of this rule was tested by using experiments with plausible assumptions for learning by doing, inertia in reducing emissions, and restrictions on net-negative emissions.
