Postdoc in Earth system modelling and assessing CO2 removal approaches

The research unit Marine Biogeochemical Modelling of research division 2: Marine Biogeochemistry (GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel) is offering a Postdoc in Earth system modelling and assessing CO2 removal approaches starting on September 1st, 2022. Initial work will involve running a state-of-the-art Earth system model (FOCI) to simulate temperature stabilization scenarios with and without overshoot to assess the climate dynamics and carbon cycle response of these different scenarios. The scientist is expected to explicitly implement four core carbon dioxide removal measures (ocean alkalinity enhancement, direct air carbon removal and storage, bioenergy with carbon capture and storage, afforestation) into FOCI.
