Merk, Christine; et al. (2015): Knowledge about aerosol injection does not reduce individual mitigation efforts

Merk, Christine; Pönitzsch, Gert; Rehdanz, Katrin (2015): Knowledge about aerosol injection does not reduce individual mitigation efforts. Kiel Institute for the World Economy (ifw working paper, 2006).

„This is the first study to provide an empirical evaluation of this claim for individuals. In a large-scale framed field experiment with more than 650 participants, we show that people do not back-pedal on mitigation when they learn that the climate change problem could be partly addressed via SAI. Instead, we observe that people who have been informed about SAI mitigate more than people who have not.“

Project: 4 for 1000: a New Program for Carbon Sequestration in Agriculture

„Agriculture can and must be part of the solution to climate change. The French Minister of Agriculture, Stéphane Le Foll, and Ambassador for Paris Climate 2015, Laurence Tubiana, emphasized this imperative at a conference that took place in Paris on April 27, 2015, during which they introduced the carbon sequestration program for agriculture, named “4 per 1000.”“

Phys.org: Researchers find unintended consequences of geoengineering to slow climate change

Response to Grandey, B. S.; Wang, C. (2015). „The ability of phytoplankton to draw planet-warming carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere and produce aerosols that promote further cooling has made ocean fertilization—through massive dispersal of iron sulfite and other nutrients that stimulate phytoplankton growth—an attractive geoengineering method to reduce global warming.“

Triple Pundit: Center for Carbon Removal: Beyond Mitigation in a 2 °C World

„Negative carbon — the idea of going beyond[nbsp]reducing carbon emissions to actively sequestering or directly removing them from the atmosphere — may be essential to meet the target of a 2 °C[nbsp]world.[nbsp]But[nbsp]awareness, research and innovation in negative carbon, or carbon removal, remains disorganized and often misunderstood. Noah Deich[nbsp]hopes to change that.

„Abating climate change is an enormous international public-goods problem with a classical “free-rider” structure. However, it is also a global “free-driver” problem because geoengineering the stratosphere with reflective particles to block incoming solar radiation is so cheap that it could essentially be undertaken unilaterally by one state perceiving itself to be in peril. .“
