Nature: The race to remove CO 2 needs more contestants

„With the ongoing failure of emissions reduction to adequately address growing atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2), increasing attention has focused on the possibility of conducting CO2 removal (CDR) from the atmosphere (‘negative emissions’). Indeed, modelling suggests that hundreds to thousands of gigatonnes (Gt) of CO2 will need to be removed over this century depending on global mean temperature goals and the success of emissions reduction.“
