GreenBiz: Amazon invests in the Amazon

„Early this month, Amazon launched a regenerative agriculture and agroforestry accelerator to help farmers restore the company’s namesake forest ecosystem, increase carbon removals and create income sources for farmers that encourages sustainable practices instead of ones based on environmentally harmful practices.“

GreenBiz: What you should know about carbon removal purchase agreements

„10 billion tons. That’s the amount of carbon dioxide the United Nations figures we need to remove from the atmosphere annually by 2050 to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement. 4,000 metric tons. That’s the capacity of the world’s largest direct air capture facility in Iceland, brought online in early September by Swiss venture Climeworks. Clearly, that’s quite a gap between supply and demand.“

Gasworld: Aramis CCS project aims for large-scale carbon reduction

„A partnership between Dutch energy companies that will aim to make major headway in reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions for 2030 has been formed. A collaboration between TotalEnergies, Shell Netherlands, Energie Beher Nederland (EBN) and Gasunie will aim to initiate the Aramis project to reduce industrial CO2 in the Netherlands by developing CO2 transport facilities to allow for offshore storage of the gas.“

Blog: The Future of Carbon Capture: A View of the Current Players

„As per the 2021 IPCC report, it is clear that it is no longer sufficient to simply reduce carbon emissions. In order to tackle climate change, we need to rapidly remove carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from the atmosphere. While this seems daunting, hundreds of companies have worked towards various carbon capture and sequestration methods over the last few decades. We have compiled a list of some of these companies with a variety of carbon sequestration technologies.“

Rodrigues, Renato; et al. (2021): Narrative-driven alternative roads to achieve mid-century CO2 net neutrality in Europe

Rodrigues, Renato; Pietzcker, Robert; Fragkos, Panagiotis; Price, James; McDowall, Will; Siskos, Pelopidas et al. (2021): Narrative-driven alternative roads to achieve mid-century CO2 net neutrality in Europe. In Energy, p. 121908. DOI: 10.1016/j.energy.2021.121908.

„The tightened climate mitigation targets of the EU green deal raise an important question: Which strategy should be used to achieve carbon emissions net neutrality? This study explores stakeholder-designed narratives of the future energy system development within the deep decarbonization context. European carbon net-neutrality goals are put under test in a model comparison exercise using state of the art Energy-Environment-Economy (E3) models: ETM-UCL, PRIMES and REMIND.“
