Muri, Helene; et al. (2015): Tropical rainforest response to marine sky brightening climate engineering

Muri, Helene; Niemeier, Ulrike; Kristjánsson, Jón Egill (2015): Tropical rainforest response to marine sky brightening climate engineering. In: Geophys. Res. Lett., S. n/a. DOI: 10.1002/2015GL063363.

„Here, the gross primary productivity (GPP) response of tropical rainforests to climate engineering via marine sky brightening under a future scenario is investigated in three Earth system models. The model response is diverse, and in two of the three models, the tropical GPP shows a decrease from the marine sky brightening climate engineering.“

Shell Blog: Getting to net-zero emissions

On negative emissions/BECCS. „Both of the Shell New Lens scenarios end in a[nbsp] net zero emissions outcome by the end of the century, but this is within the energy system itself and does not encompass the full range of other sources of CO2 emissions and other long lived greenhouse gases.“

Kwiatkowski, Lester; et al. (2015): Atmospheric consequences of disruption of the ocean thermocline

Kwiatkowski, Lester; Ricke, Katharine L.; Caldeira, Ken (2015): Atmospheric consequences of disruption of the ocean thermocline. In: Environ. Res. Lett. 10 (3), S. 034016. DOI: 10.1088/1748-9326/10/3/034016.

„To help bound potential climate consequences of these activities, we perform a set of simulations involving idealized disruption of the ocean thermocline by greatly increasing vertical mixing in the upper ocean. We use an Earth System Model (ESM) to evaluate the likely thermal and hydrological response of the atmosphere to this scenario.“
